FAQ

What is the Investing.com Economic Calendar?

The Economic Calendar is a real-time, streaming schedule of economic events and data releases that can move financial markets. It tracks indicators such as GDP, inflation, employment figures, interest rate decisions, manufacturing PMI, consumer confidence, and central bank speeches from countries around the world.

What do the star icons next to each event mean?

Each event is rated with one, two, or three stars based on its expected market impact. One star means low expected volatility, two stars indicate moderate impact, and three stars signal a high-impact event likely to cause significant price movement. You can filter the calendar by importance level to focus on the events that matter most to you.

How do the Actual, Forecast, and Previous columns work?

Forecast shows the consensus estimate from economists before the data is released. Previous shows the figure from the last reporting period. Actual is populated in real time once the official number is published. Comparing these three values helps you assess whether a result came in better or worse than expected.

Why do Actual values appear in green or red?

The colour coding indicates how the released figure compares to the forecast. Green means the Actual value came in higher than the Forecast, which is typically seen as positive for the associated currency or market. Red means the Actual value was lower than the Forecast, which is generally viewed as negative. This visual cue helps you quickly assess the outcome of each release.

What are the most important economic indicators to follow?

The highest-impact events include central bank interest rate decisions, Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP), GDP releases, the Consumer Price Index (CPI), and unemployment data. These are typically marked with three stars on the calendar because they can cause significant volatility across forex, equities, commodities, and bond markets. Filtering by high importance is a quick way to focus on the releases most likely to move prices.

How can I filter and customize the Economic Calendar?

Click the Show Filters button to access options for country selection, event category, and importance level. You can also adjust the display timezone and choose a date range using the tabs: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, This Week, Next Week, or Custom dates. Click Apply after making your selections.

Does the Economic Calendar update automatically?

Yes. All data streams and updates automatically in real time. When an economic indicator is officially released, the Actual figure appears without requiring you to refresh the page. You can also toggle the display to show either the event time or the time remaining until each announcement.

How can I set alerts for economic events?

You can set custom alerts for specific economic events by selecting the 'Create Alert' button on the far right of the row
