Wall Street closes at a record for the first time since end of January
Investing.com-- Pony.ai (NASDAQ:PONY), Uber Technologies (NYSE:UBER), and Verne have partnered to launch Europe’s first commercial robotaxi service, with initial operations set to begin in Zagreb, the companies said on Wednesday.
The service will combine Pony.ai’s autonomous driving technology, Uber’s global ride-hailing platform, and Verne’s fleet operations, with plans to scale to thousands of robotaxis across Europe over the coming years.

Under the agreement, Pony.ai will provide its Gen-7 autonomous driving system, Verne will act as fleet owner and operator, and Uber will integrate the service into its app, expanding access to users alongside Verne’s own platform.
The companies said on-road testing is already underway in Zagreb using Pony.ai’s system deployed on robotaxi vehicles, with preparations for fare-charging services in progress.
The rollout marks a key step in bringing autonomous mobility from testing to commercial deployment in Europe, where regulatory approvals and infrastructure readiness remain critical hurdles.
Verne will lead efforts to secure regulatory clearances and coordinate deployment, while Uber plans to invest in Verne to support expansion.
The partnership is expected to expand into additional European cities over time.
